Comedy Night

Easter Weekend Northern Cape - One to Remember

Kimberley was the host of a great Easter weekend filled with activities.  As people were rushing to the shops in preparation for Good Friday, some joined those who decided to enter easter in a different light.

The new Galeshewe Township Extravaganza Music Festival came at just the right time and our local comedians took charge as opening acts. Though the number of people attending was low, it did not deter the comedians.

“We were abit worried that the show will not happen because we were so few,” said Margo Williams. She says her favourite act was Khanyisa Bunu because her jokes were funny and somehow educational.

Chris Mapane complained about the crowd being uptight and bored, he pleaded with them to loosen up as this is their (bread) job. He thanked the organizers for supporting young upcoming talent. One of our local comedians, Tjhawa was grateful for the opportunity him and the other local comedians were afforded as its great for their careers.

During this time of the year, Kimberlites are usually flocking to the Diamonds and Doring festival, which is held annually at the Langley resort outside Kimberley. The annual festival got cancelled, opening up doors for new and fresh events in Kimberley.

The Galeshewe Township Extravaganza Music Festival has shown how talented and innovative the youth of Kimberley is through the afforded opportunity.

Ntosh Madlingozi left the intimate crowd in tears and begging for more.
