The Pixley Ka Seme District capital will be the host venue of the Renewable Energy Conference and Exhibition 2018. The Northern Cape Department of Economic Development and Tourism in collaboration with the Department of Energy and some Independent Power Producers are convening this important conference from 23 to 24 August at the Nonzwakazi stadium.
According to the department the participants will discuss various issues relating to the current status of renewable energy and the “opportunities in accordance with the socio-economic transformation in the province.” A visit to the renewable energy project sites is also on the cards.
More than 10 speakers will address the conference including the MEC of Economic Development and Tourism, Mack Jack, Minister of Energy, Jeff Radebe and the Premier, Ms Sylvia Lucas.
The organisers of the event said that they intend “to provide a platform for the Northern Cape communities to discuss key challenges , opportunities, and repositioning of Procurement opportunities in the Renewable Energy space as a tool for radical economic transformation in the Province.” The event will furthermore serve as platform for innovation and skills development in the renewable energy sector and to explore the potential of establishing clean and green sustainable development projects.
