Teachers efforts in educationg the Northern Cape’s future leaders were brought to light on Monday, 29 October at the Provincial Teaching Awards ceremony hosted at the Mittah Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre in Kimberley. MEC responsible for Education in the province Martha Bartlett said that the Teaching Awards were the “culmination of a rigorous process that commenced in each of our Districts, adjudication and elimination processes that lead us to tonight.
Tonight, all of you are here as Provincial Finalist, which already is a remarkable achievement. You are already a winner!” The MEC also added that the achievements of the teachers had show that regardless of adversity in the “times of challenges and controversy” in the education system, schools continued to be kept burning bright by the designated torch-bearers who were “tirelessly working hard to deliver quality teaching. Better education is sorely needed by the young and this beautiful country of ours that is in dire need of development.”
MEC Bartlett went on to thank the teachers who were honored at the ceremony. “The teachers we honour today and the many more great teachers out there who quietly devote their lives to inspiring our children. You change lives every day, and make the world a better place. One learner at a time, one day at a time”, said MEC Bartlett.
