KIMBERLEY – Art, music, fashion, food, poetry and live music were galore at the Market held at the Flamingo Casino grounds last Saturday. Judging by its splendour, this seasonal event hosted by Pino Tau Media has endured itself as the cultural event of the year. Aimed at influencing young owned businesses and embracing local talent, the Market has become one of the most colourful gatherings on the Kimberley social calendar. When asked about what influenced the installation of the spirit of arts, culture and entrepreneurship in the diamond city, CEO of Pino Tau Media, Mkhokeli Pino said that the Market @ Flamingo Casino is focused on seeing local businesses grow by giving prospective entrepreneurs a platform to launch their businesses.

“The market is a nice starting block. It gives you the opportunity, builds confidence and gives you inspiration to actually go into business full-time,” said the young Mr Pino. Some local businesses who have been showcasing their goods since the beginning of this seasonal event, said the Market @ Flamingo Casino affords them the elbow room to expand their clientele. When asked about the benefits of showcasing, local fashion designer and owner of Fort Joko Clothing, Fort Joko said, “ The market exposes us to different people because not only Kimberley people attend the market. Unlike your normal clientele you get more exposure from people outside of Kimberley too.” The gig is not purely a business initiative, but, is also a lifestyle experience most Kimberlites look forward to and appreciate. Speaking to the SolomonStar, Tshenolo Motlhaba heaped praises on the organisers of the assemblage. “I feel like they’ve achieved what they wanted to achieve and it has been very good thus far.”

Dikhumo Ndubula shared Motlhaba’s sentiments, adding that the Market @ Flamingo Casino is an event that really cultivated the celebration of youth owned business. “This is a very good initiative for young people especially those who want to start their own businesses seeing that unemployment is such a big thing for us young people,” expressed Ms Ndubula. Markets by Pino Tau has plans to expand the initiative. Mr Pino added that the Market @ Flamingo Casino will plant its roots outside of Kimberley and will continue to target younger people to instill the spirit of entrepreneurship from a younger age.
