The Northern Cape Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development will be hosting the Investment and Trade Fair from the 15th to 16th November 2018 at the Mittah Seperepere Convention Centre.
The objective of the fair, according to a statement from the department is to “provide a network for all role players in the agro-processing industry to interact with potential investors. The platform is also fashioned to create opportunities for small holder farmers to be exposed to potential markets across the continent and internationally through partnerships that will be formed through the investment and trade fair.”
According to a statement released by the department international collaboration prospects are in existence for research and livestock production. The BRICS countries have been identified as possible partners for the research. “Our research station at Vaalharts is the second biggest research institution in the world on ground beef, second only to the United States of America,” said Ali Diteme, the spokesperson of MEC Norman Shushu.
“We expect to have 300 prominent people and Agri-businesses within the agricultural sector and technology and related experts inclusive of the banking sector, academia and Sectoral, Education and Training Authorities (SETAs) to leverage possible investment from member countries of BRICS following the recent BRICS Summit held in our country,” Diteme stated.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Minister of Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Senzeni Zokwana while international guests would also be in attendance.
