Both Manchester City and Liverpool FC emerged victorious from their perilous fixtures this weekend. This puts emphasis on the fact that this year’s Premier League title race is so tight that it could potentially be decided by one point come May.
Liverpool lead Manchester City by two points but have played a game more following Sundays 2-0 win over Chelsea, a game which was deemed Liverpool’s final hurdle of tough assignments as their final four matches are against teams from the bottom half of the table. Liverpool are looking formidable at the moment and they do indeed look like winning the remainder of their matches.
As good as the Reds look, City have been no slouches in terms of performances. On paper though, Manchester City have a much tougher run ahead with Tottenham and Manchester United still to play, but Pep Guardiola’s men have the undoubted potential to win all of their remaining fixtures. City have won all of their last 10 Premier League games. Their squad is deeper and stronger than Liverpool’s and they seem to be an unstoppable steam train at this point.
If both teams win all of their remaining games, Manchester City would win the title by a single point.
A title for any of these teams is still quite probable, let’s not forget that one point is a sliver of a margin and there often tends to be hiccups and stumbles at this stage of the season, only time will tell.
