Northern Cape Gospel Music Awards Targets Raw Talent for 2020

Letlhogonolo Nyathi, the CEO of NC Marketing, who is also the brains behind the Northern Cape Gospel Awards blew the province away by hosting the first ever Northern Cape Gospel Music Awards (NCGMA). This came after hosting the Kimberley worship experience with Lebo Sekgobela at the Mittah Seperepere convention center in collaboration with the Church of Christ commission Bongani, which is based in Douglas southwest of Kimberley.

After offering the people of Kimberley the great experience with Lebo Sekgobela, NC Marketing realised the talent within the province and how it was not being celebrated. He therefore saw the need to recognise and uplift Northern Cape gospel artists as the province was the only one which had not held such a prestigious event. The artists were honoured by this gesture as many of them were complaining about the lack of support and exposure within the province. For the success of these awards, Nyathi formed a collaboration with young entrepreneurs who share the same vision for the Northern Cape. The Northern Cape Gospel Music Awards were held on the 15th of February at the Northern Cape Theatre in Kimberley, with the theme, “royalty with a touch of elegance”.

All five districts of the Northern Cape were represented at the awards. Northern Cape Gospel Music Awards attracted a number of sponsors including the mayors of the respective towns. Our very own mayor, Mr Patrick Mabilo, gave the opening speech for the ceremony assuring the attendants that Sol Plaatjie municipality will join hands with other entities in the province to the sponsor the awards once again in 2020. “The team is excited to bring bigger and better awards for 2020, whilst ending the awards with a first of its kind gospel festival/picnic after party,” said Letlhogonolo Nyathi. He added that his dream is to see the province become one of the most sought after tourist destinations.

Artists who won the awards will be receiving their prizes in May 2019. Northern Cape Marketing and events will be going on a journey seeking out raw talent within the province to be part of the 2020 awards. In depth details will be revealed in May at the prize giving session.
