The Minister of Health, Dr Zweli Mkhize has confirmed that the number of COVID-19 cases in South Africa had increased to 554. With two patients in Intensive care unit (ICU) in private hospitals.
The Northern Cape has recorded its first cases of the COVID-19. The first cases of corona virus patients are from Hartswater. The pair attended a church conference in Bloemfontein on the 9th of March until the 14th.
The couple received information on Thursday that one of the people who attended the same conference tested positive for COVID-19 and took the decision to self-isolate. They then proceeded to be tested and the female was found to be positive.
Seventeen people in the Northern Cape were tested and seven were found to be negative. The department is still awaiting the results of the ten people of the seventeen.
Northern Cape Premier, Dr Zamani Saul said he appreciates their patriotism for self-isolating and coming forth.
